It´s been amazing months….! Looking at this beautiful bird and how it evolved…..

First he was very shy and didn´t want to fly at all, he was still a very young adult, perhaps was injured and was found drowning in the waters of the Pucate River…..

Now fully recovered he flew away….! We are so happy about that….! But if I am truthful, I miss looking at him…..

It was very special watching his progress, how he started to feel stronger and more comfortable. At first he was quite scared and always opening his mouth, then he started walking….yes just walking through the garden and jumping while doing it. He looked very funny just like a common vulture…! Walking in small and little steps and jumps….. then he started to fly to the top of small plants, and he loved to just sit there, looking at everything that was going on, he really enjoyed meat, we fed him with raw meat and raw fish, which he loved …!

When Rambo the man in charge of taking care and feeding him would approach the Kite he would just look at him and open his mouth…waiting….for the meat to come….. the kite let me touch his head, I was always looking around for him, he would stay still looking from the side, as though waiting…… I thought that perhaps he would never leave….! Luckily however, we could see he was becoming stronger everyday…. and one day …he started to fly much higher, to the branches of the Aguaje palm tree and the trees we have around.

Every day a little higher….. Until yesterday, he was just resting in one branch very near the river and when Rambo reached out to grab him….he flew away, he crossed over the Marañon River…… I stayed still just watching at him…… I was smiling and looking at him fly away. First I felt surprised and scared, what is life going to be like in the next days for him, but after a little while I felt happy and even relieved ….. nature called….. he left to have the most wonderful life ….. flying wild again….. feeling free….. feeling strong and brave, starting his new life……looking for his food…… starting a new adventure every day….. it was a beautiful bird….. and we are so happy that we helped him get well, strong and continue……actually starting again with his life….

Now everytime I see a grey headed Kite I will always think about him…… and wonder…..but I feel so lucky to know that he is back in the wild were he belong…….
